Good afternoon,
I write to inform you of an emergency road closure at Marsedyke Bridge, Sempringham. This bridge has been subject to a routine inspection and significant damage to the foundations has been discovered, requiring urgent intervention. This damage could have been caused by the significant storm events experienced in recent years.
There are currently temporary traffic signals in place to divert vehicles away from the most severely damaged area of the bridge. A full closure will be required for repairs to be undertaken, to allow sufficient working space for a concrete pump and other equipment. It is anticipated that the closure will commence from Saturday 13th September, lasting for up to two weeks. I assure you that the road will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so.
Traffic will be diverted via the A15 and A52, as shown on the attached plan. Additional signage will be erected on Mareham Lane and West Road (Pointon) to mark these routes as unsuitable for diverted traffic, as these have been identified as potential rat runs.
I do apologise for the very short notice of this works, but can assure you they are of an emergency nature to ensure the bridge does not deteriorate further, leading to a collapse and prolonged period of the B1177 being closed.
Should you have any queries or concerns now or as the work progress please do get in touch.
Kind regards
Jeremy
